Love…It is an indefinable, infinite emotion. Perhaps the most powerful of feelings, it can be beautiful, painful, and at times, all-consuming and dangerous. Whether it strikes one at first sight or blooms gradually, people cannot help falling in love…and then writing about it.
Love letters have been written for centuries. They were written when people sat down with quill in hand and parchment on their table, and they are written now as people type away on their cellphones and computers. Though in the contemporary times, writing personal letters is becoming a thing of the paste as the world gets digitized—putting pen to paper takes longer as compared to texting or emailing, the delivery of letters takes days, sometimes even weeks.
Yet love letters are graceful in a way that texts will never be; the very image of the writer sitting with pen in hand, brooding and printing for their lover while composing heartfelt lines, evokes elegance. Though love is an emotion that often leaves people tongue-tied, countless letters have been penned to describe or confess the hold this emotion has on people.
We are publishing World’s Greatest Love Letters in series. Please go through one of them.
